Summer
The bright sun shining on your face,
the warm, fresh breeze gentley hitting your skin,
is the feeling of summer.
Laying out on the fresh cut grass,
trying to get a golden tan for the upcoming school year,
is the feeling of summer.
Jumping into cold, refreshing pools,
when your body cant take the heat any longer,
is the feeling of summer.
Hearing and seeing your friends laugh,
while you hang out with them 24/7,
is the feeling of summer.
Staying up until the next day,
and then sleeping in until you can't sleep anymore,
is the feeling of summer.
I can't wait until I can say this is what I'm feeling, not what I'm wishing I'm feeling.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time Thesis

Response to Poem
This poem was confusing to me, but also made sense in a way. I realized that there are a lot of nobodies in this world, but then there are a lot of somebodies. I feel bad for the nobodies because they have no one to socialize with, no one to have your back, absolutely no one. I can't possibly imagine having no one in your life, and being a nobody. I think that this poem is saying that there are many people that have no one in their life, and if you talk to people, you may find that someone is just like you.

My Hero
I think that there are a lot of people that have potential of being my hero. But if I had to choose one, it would probably be my dad. I look up to him a lot because he has accomplished so much in his life. He was an athlete like me throughout his child hood, and all the way into college, which I hope to do also. He now owns two Anytime Fitness clubs, and has taught me that in life you can be very successfull. I help out at these fitness clubs all the time because I know that I can help him out by having him have less work. Overall, I really look up to my dad, because he is my hero in life.

1 Year to Live
There are so many things that I want to do before I die, but how am I going to accomplish them all in just one year? If I only had one year to live, I would do adventerous things, and go outside of my comfort zone because it's going to be the last 365 days of my life. First off, I have always wanted to go sky diving, so I would make that number one on my list of things to do. Next I would like to go to New York, because I have always dreamed of going there and shopping, and having the time of my life. I just haven't gotten to it yet. I would also like to travel to somewhere outside the United States, like Jamaica, or the Bahamas, somewhere that's completely different compared to Wisconsin. Where ever I would go, I would do fun things in the ocean. Like jet skiing, or parasailing. Something that I haven't tried before. Basically I would do things that I never dreamed of doing, I would try something new, and not do the ordinary. The last year of my life would be the best year of my life if I got to try and do some of those new things. That's what I would do if I only had one year left in my life.

Spring Break
My spring break this year wasn't very exciting. I just stayed at home, and hung out with friends. But one day my brother, and 2 cousins wanted to go to a skatepark, so I decided to go along. They brought their scooters, and I just watched. I was sitting on a narrow piece of concrete that slanted downwards and decided to stand up and walk down it. I found that this wasn't the smartest idea because I was wearing flip flops. I started to walk down it, and slipped backwards and landed right on my tailbone. It hurt so bad, and I'm pretty sure I bruised my tailbone. Luckily it was on the last day of break, so it didn't ruin any of my other plans. It's really hard to sit down, or get up from sitting for a while, but it has definetly gotten better, and will hopefully go away for good very soon, especially with sports coming around the corner. Otherwise my spring break was spent with hanging out with friends and family, and most importantly sleeping in really late.

Civil War Questions
1. One cause of the Civil War was slavery. The North and South disagreed on laws about slavery, so it resulted in some causes for the war.
2. 1 important battle was the Battle of Gettysburg, the reason for this was because it was totally unexpected, and was one of the most deadly battles. Plus so many south soldiers died, that it brought the South down, which caused them to lose the overall war.
3. 1 influential person would defenitly be Abraham Lincoln because he was the leader of the North, and lead us to vicotry in the Civil War. He was an important person because he made all the calls, and made important decision.

Interview
Reporter: So Annie, I hear that your dad is stationed in Gettysburg, in the battle of Gettysburg? How is life without him?
Annie: It's different. Not having him around all the time is really hard, and he was like my best friend. So it's very hard for me to pretend like everything is ok, when it's not.
Reporter: I know what you mean. My dad was also part of the Civil War, and it was very hard for me too. Now how has your mom and sister taken this situation?
Annie: It's going to be hard for anyone that knew him because he was such a great person, and if anything happens to him, it would be devastating. My mom is found crying at random times, like while eating dinner, or while sewing a dress. Anything that reminds her of him makes her cry. My sister is still very young to understand the concept that he may not come back, but she can tell that something's wrong.
Reporter: I hope that everything is ok. When does he come home?
Annie: I hope so too. And I'm really not sure. Whenever the battle is over I guess. But I really don't know how long that's going to take. I'm hoping he will come home soon, just so that I can give him one last hug just in case something were to happen to him.

Spring
Colors begin to fill up the empty fields,
As beautiful flowers sprout from the gruond.
Pinks, yellows, greens, catch your eye,
As you walk through the grassy hills.
The humid air swirls around you
As the sun is shining bright on your back.
The trees are just starting to grow leaves,
With all different shades of green.
Instead of a long sleeve shirts and jeans,
you start to bring out the shorts and tank tops.
Spring always brings a smile to my face,
because I know that I'm that much closer to summer.

This scene is going to be about two friends talking about random things at school. This is based off of a true story.

3. Random seventh grader
All of our friends are standing around before a volleyball game, talking and socializing.
2: Taylor, can I please have a dollar? I'm so hungry.
1: I have only have one, sorry.
Taylor walks over to the vending machine and tries to input her dollar. It doesn't work.
1: Jayla why isn't it working????
3: It's not plugged in.
2 and 1: Ohhhhhh
1:Wow Taylor
2: Obviously if you put money in there, nothing's going to come out.
1: That made no sense
2: Exactly
This is one of the many random conversations that we have on a daily basis.

Civil War
I think that this artile was very interesting because I learned a lot of new things. It had a lot of good information, and really went into detail of everything they talked about. You could use this for research because it talks about some of the main topics that people are doing for their stories. I think that one of the most interesting "10 things you should know" was about the new technologies that were used throughout the war. One was called telegraph lines, which carried the news of the battles to people that wanted to know information about it. It was faster than what you would have thought for their time period. They also had a wide range of guns including rifles and muskets, which were very useful during the war.
If I had to write a "10 things you shoud know" about Asa Clark I would include.....
1. We are a Public School
2. We have a dress code, limiting us on what we can and cannot wear
3. We are located in Pewaukee, Wisconsin
4. Our age group is 7th and 8th grade
5. During the day, we have 5 class periods and then a resource at the end
6. Each class is 70 minutes long
7. We have a very good acamdemic program
8. We are the Pewaukee Pirates
9. We have a good athletic program too
10. We start at 7:30 a.m and end at 2:45 p.m

Stream of Consciousness
My father has been at the war for more than 2 months now. All I can think about is if he is going to make it out alive, how he is doing, what he is doing? These questions run through my mind, and I'm unable to stop them. Life has been hard without him. My mother has had to live on her own with us kids. Cook, clean, and make money for our family. I can't wait for the day when he will finally arrive back from the war. I can already imagine his big warm smile, his smell, his gentle touch when he gives me a hug. But what if he doesn't come back? What if he gets wounded or killed right in the middle of a battle? If this happens, what would have been my last second with him? Did I give him a big enough goodbye? All of these horrible, negative thoughts keep going through my mind. But I need to stay positive, I need to believe that my father will come home strong and healthy, and ready to protect me and my family. He's going to be gone for another 10 months, I don't know how I'm going to be able to make it without seeing him for this long. It has been hard, but I know that I am strong, and can make through these hard times. My life is rough enough as is, why make it worse by having a negative attitude.

Historical Fiction Story
The book that I chose to read about was "The Battle of Gettysberg". By the look of the title, I know that it will be all about The Battle of Gettysberg, and the history behind the Civil War. I haven't really started thinking about what characters I want to have in the story. Most likely a youg boy living through the battle, either as him fighting, or a father or brother fighting. Then readers can get an understanding of how life was like when the battle and war was going on. My story will take place obviously during The Battle of Gettysberg, near the battle grounds, and towns nearby. The conflict in the story will be one of his family members dying in the war, and how he will get through it. My characters are going to want to win the Battle for their family, their town, and all of their people. This is just an overall look at what the story is going to be about. I will get into much further detail in the actual story.

Motivation
Motivation is a big part in getting something that you want, but there are so many things that can motivate you. Things that normally motivate me is the feeling of winning, or getting something in return for succedding. For example, winning a basketball tournament. How would I motivate myself to win? I would picture how great the feeling would be to know that you are better than all of the teams, that you won over everyone else. That your team is the best of the best. Another motivation would be that you get a trophy in return. Then you would always have that trophy to remind yourself of how great you did in the past, and that the feeling is remarkable. I think most people do put themselves before others most of the time, but it's not necessarily a bad thing. What if it's the difference between life and death? Wouldn't you rather stay living? There's always that thought in your mind telling you, "Put others before yourself", but sometimes you have to listen to your heart intstead of your mind. This can be recalled as being selfish, but to me, it's standing up for yourself.

Fight
Fighting is never the right thing to do, but in some cases, you have to fight for what you believe in. There are two types of fighting, violent fighting, and debating. Violent fighting is where something is taken into extreme where physical violence is brought to the fight. Debate fighting is where you use words instead of actions to express how you feel. Something is never bad enough that you have to hurt people to get a point said, words are always easier to express how you feel. If I ever had to fight for something or someone, I would do it. It doesn't matter what I have to go through. I would go through anything because they are my friends, and I care about them. Also because I know that they would do the same for me. I would try to avoid violence, but if it got to that, I would fight for the person.

Free Will
Do you think that everyoe has free will? I don't think that we have free will, because we can't do whatever we want, whenever we want. That's why there are laws restricting us from doing certain things. There are laws for a reason, so why should we break them? If we had free will, life would be very unsafe, and too crazy for some people to handle. At the point in the world right now, we don't have free will, and I think it should stay like this because it seems to be workng out.

Pushing Through, and Staying Tough
I read the Article "Baylor Guard Seeks Title and she Regains Vision". In this article, a senior from Baylor, named Melissa Jones, dove for a lose ball on the ground thinking nothing of it. But as collided with another player, she hit the ground, and her head was what she landed on. She played on thinking nothing of it, until later on in the game, she had no vision at all in her right eye. She missed one game from recovery, but was back in no time. She began by playing her first 6 games with protective glasses on her eyes, just in case. As time progressed, her eye improved greatly. First she began to make out shapes and colors, but then it got even better where she saw moving blurs of people, and later could reconize who that person was. Overall, Melissa fought through the pain, and stayed tough throughout her recovery, and was determained to get better as fast as she could.
Her determination and toughness really inspires me to fight through whatever happens to me in the future. If I ever get hurt, I will want to get back as fast as I can, as strong as I can. Melissa is a clear example of pushing through the pain, and working towards a goal of getting better fast. I also hope to play basketball during high school, and college, so seeing how she was aggressive and hustling for the ball, really shows me what a true basketball player would do for their team. I hope to be as great of a player as Melissa is, and to be as strong as determained as she is too.

Reflection of Project
I think we did a good job overall when presenting our project. We had good eye contact, and got the class involved. But on the other hand, we had some pauses that was filled with random talking by the class, so we should have had control of the class during the presentation. Overall, our group did a great job presenting this project.
Life
Life is always confusing, no matter what is thrown at you. But you need to push threw the hard times to get to the even better ones. Your life is your own decision, so the choices you make will affect how you live. I am happy on how my life has been so far. There are probably some things that I regret, but the things that I have done in the past, have gotten me to where I am now.

Can humans truley be equal?
It's hard to say if humans are really equal. In my mind, nobody is that alike to be considered the same or equal. If the world was all the same, life would be boring and uneventful. Everyone would be the same, and no one would have there own differences. Having differences from other people is what makes you who you are. So why should we change that? Imagine saying the same thing, seeing the same thing, wearing the same thing everyday, not having control over something to make yourself different. Life is supposed to be unpredictable, but why are we wanting to make it predictable?
Superhuman Power
Having a super power would be a great experience to have. Being able to read peoples minds, walk though walls, or even flying. There are so many to choose from that I wouldn't know which one I would want to have. But, if I really had to choose one, I would pick being able to fly. Having the opportunity to fly would be life changing. Being able to be somewhere in a matter of seconds, compared to other kinds of transportation. Also being able to see everything thats going on below you, someone driving in a car, someone walking down the street. Overall, having this superpower would be such a cool experience and would change my life for forever.

Summer Poem
Summer
The sun shining in your eyes,
the wind blowing at your face.
Sitting at the edge of the pier,
moving your feet in and out of the water below you.
No thoughts go through your mind,
except for what you're going to do next.
This is the feeling of summer,
not having a care in the world,
doing whatever comes to mind.
The sun shining in your eyes,
the wind blowing at your face.
Sitting at the edge of the pier,
moving your feet in and out of the water below you.
No thoughts go through your mind,
except for what you're going to do next.
This is the feeling of summer,
not having a care in the world,
doing whatever comes to mind.
